Hello, Mrhhome, you sound like a terrific person and no way did you do anything wrong, you in fact did everything exactly RIGHT.
JW's are all about consequences. For non-dubs, that is! They think what they are going to get is "fruitage" and all the "worldly" people will get Consequences.
But you gave your wife's brother a clear look at the natural and deserved consequence of his actions. And that is all good!

CoC set me free. OH my gosh, the crap I allowed myself to endure for so many years - I'm so glad it's over. From reading his book I got a sure feeling that Ray Franz must have been a tremendously compassionate person. To tear away the drapes and let everyone in on the fact that the WT is just a big printing concern. He is a hero and by writing that book helped me and my family get our lives back.
about me, i am being raised in a jw family.
all of my family expect for one aunt, who had left but not disfellowedshiped thankly, are in jw.
my father is an elder and so is my grandfather.

This blog is my favorite. I've learned a lot since I've been here, on lots of varied subjects. My attitude towards my state of mind now, is that i'm in recovery from a cult. From all I've read so far, it takes time. Maybe some day I won't be interested in talking to ex-jw's but right now i need it.

atlantis has very kindly let me see a copy of the aug 21, 2013 letter to all bodies of elders in the united states.. they are being instructed to re-organize the service meeting for the week commencing september 2nd (next week) to include a special recruitment talk to attract skilled volunteer workers for the new warwick hq.. an interesting feature of the letter is its comparison of the project with nehemiah's rebuilding of the walls of jerusalem.
considering the relocation of hq is financially motivated more than anything, the analogy is more than a little bewildering.. here is a scan of the opening comments of the two-page outline, to be given in the next local needs item.... .

Talking about the songbooks reminded me of a WT music cd of somebody singing kingdom songs, 10 or 15 years ago, and it was absolutely horrible. Don't know if anyone remembers that or more details about it. It was supposed to take the place of worldly music so our ears would be rescued from worldly people singing.
please tell my thirty-six year old niece what you would tell all your loved ones if they were to go back to the cult because they wanted to see their loved ones again.. she was df'd at sixteen for being a teenager with an anxiety disorder, her dad had walked out on her and her family(2 other sisters) when they were young and never supported them or the mother.
all of them had to live with their grandmother.
after the last child left home, their father has their mother move back in with him.
I can't add anything to Exwhyzee, but just want to say I am ashamed of being in that cult. And that cult should be ashamed of itself too.
